Acting like a local - taking a day off and doing nothing in particular

This morning K and I are headed to Sydney.  Yesterday, we had a pretty lazy day.  When we are visiting foreign countries, K and I like to experience the local flair as much as possible.  Usually, there is no better way to do that than to just spend a Saturday doing what the locals do.  And that is just what we did yesterday - so not much to blog about.

We spent the day wandering the parks (Roma and South Bank Parks in Brisbane).

[We came upon a group of these birds that did not move even when we were inches away - I thought for sure they were fake.  K insisted they were real and laughed at me when she discovered they were real.  I even said "check out these fake birds - they look so real."   That's me - J Wildlife Expert]
[K was fascinated by all the huge lizards in Roma park. Wonder if a few of these might keep the mosquitos down back home?]

We took a boat ride down the Brisbane river.

We visited the local Saturday market and watched/listened to local artists perform.

[For my nephew Quinn who plays all sorts of instruments - check this one man band out playing at the market!]
We did a little shopping (my kind of store - chocolate in and around everything!  Pick your favorite fruit or nut and walk up to a box that was full of dark or milk chocolate around them.  Yummy.)

That was our lazy day in Australia.  Hope everyone back home enjoyed their weekend too.
